What is new in orthopedics: stem cells, platelet enriched plasma, in office arthroscopy

Presented by

Joshua Alpert, MD

Dr. Joshua Alpert is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon at Fox Valley Orthopedics. He completed his residency at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center, and earned his sports medicine fellowship from Harvard/Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Alpert specializes in orthopedic sports medicine, with a subspecialty treating common injuries to the knee and shoulder. His primary focus is on new, non-invasive orthopedic treatments, including platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and stem-cell therapies. When surgery is necessary, he performs knee and shoulder arthroscopy, surgically repairing meniscus and ACL tears in the knee, rotator cuff, and labral tears in the shoulder, and he performs shoulder replacements. Dr. Alpert is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS), the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM), and the Illinois State Medical Society. He is on staff at Advocate Sherman Hospital, Ascension Saint Joseph Hospital and Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital.
